Northern Summer Milky Way

This wide-angle image spans the summer Milky Way from Aquila (on the left) to Cepheus (on the right). The Northern Cross lies along a dark lane in the center. Numerous nebulae and clusters are visible. The bright stars show their natural colors. A view with the constellations marked is here. A closer view around the Northern Cross is here.

Nikon 24mm lens at f/4. Three fifteen-minute exposures on gas-hypersensitized Kodak Supra 400 color-negative film. August 9, 2002 from Speculator, NY. 2002
